Throughout his career, David Braben has been exploring what is possible to achieve with computer technology. From developments in gaming theory to best practice in teaching Computer Science to children, David has always been at the fore.
In the early 1980s, when the games industry was in its infancy, David designed the iconic game 'Elite' – for which he has been given the accolade of ‘British Gaming Legend’David's work combines computer science skills with a passion for creativity and artistry. In the last 30 years, he has designed games like RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, Kinectimals, Disneyland Adventures, LostWinds and Coaster Crazy. Today, he is CEO of Frontier Developments in Cambridge.
As a strong advocate of teaching Computer Science to children, David is a founding Trustee of the Raspberry Pi Foundation – which makes small computers for education costing only $25.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and a BAFTA committee member.
