Deirdre Murphy curates the collections at the Historic Royal Palaces - Kensington Palace, The Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kew Palace and the Banqueting House in Whitehall. She spends her days immersed in the history of Albertopolis and the life of its namesake, Prince Albert.
She has developed several exhibitions at Kensington Palace including Victoria Revealed, which tells the story of Queen Victoria and Prince Alberts' lives together through their personal objects and artefacts. It looks closely at Albert, a man Victoria described as “perfection; perfection in every way”, and his passionate interest in science and the arts.
Deirdre studied for an MA in History of Art at the Courtauld Institute of Art and has worked at the Victoria and Albert Museum and Manchester City Galleries. She is an associate lecturer at Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion.
